Re: Jane Mylchreest

Great website, Col.

I believe I pasted all my notes into the earlier 2 messages.

The IOMFHS mag article just asks for help in identifying the birth date/name/mother of a Jessie b IOM "circa 1879, reputedly in Ballasalla" who used the surname Benthall in the 1901 census, and married as Jessie Benthall in 1905.

The author of the article probably hadn't seen Jessie's entry in the 1911 census which clearly gives Jessie's birthplace as Ballasalla, and her age as 28. Her census entry in 1901 shows that she was 18, and at her death in Dec Q 1918 she was 36.

I've found absolutely no hard evidence that this Jessie is the same child as the Jessie Ann Mylchreest b March 1883 to Jane Mylchreest, daughter of Thomas Mylchreest and Esther Corrin. But I have a strong hunch that they are the same person. Finding one or both these Jessies in 1891 might solve the mystery.
