bit more info re Jurby School from R S Ely "Manx Schools, past present + proposed" 2003
the old 1766 school replaced by a new school opened 1862, closed 1874 - 1877(problem with vicar + teacher dismissed for drunkeness) then reopened (had just 2 teachers + small roll) - only 20 on roll in 1937 and closed in 1938 + sold 1952/3 - apparently later demolished + Jurby Garage built there (grid ref SC360992 - junction A10 + B3)) Jurby developed as a WW2 airfield (the school was just to north) + post war population increased + building in old RAF camp opened 1970 as an infant + primary school but closed 1981 after which a new school opened. Cant find any mention of Stephensons tho. The Manx museum might have photos - library@mnh.gov.im
