Thanks for all the info its been of great help, i cant do much more until i receive a copy of my grandmothers birth cert, I have a feeling that Jessie Gillon was my grandmothers mother, there is a record of her marrying in 1924 the same year my grandmother Olive was born. Maybe the man she married was a Ball and that's why she used that name, my grandfather has an old photo that he said is grandma Olives mum, it has Sophia written on the back of it. This would make Sophia Gillon ( Radcliffe )around 50 years old at the time of my granmdma's birth !
I have been trying to trace Henry Gillon 1861 and cant find any record of his death in the liverpool or isle of man areas,
