Re: Frances' email
In Response To: Re: Frances' email ()

Dear Ms. Douglass,
I have been correpsonding with FRANCES by post and e-mail and editor at Manx for almost 6 years, I know how to respond back. There is a proverb which I shall give to you in a minute, you too have, if you remember by e-mail of June 03, 2010 8:36 PM. written to me.

Which now I shall post your e-mail of that date now word for word, since I too am a transcriber, when I go too fast I make some mistakes, but will try not too.

RE: CAINE LINE
I would like to you to Outline your lineage starting with yourself and going back each generation to your imigrant ancestor Patrick Cain(E) who YOU THINK was born 1712 IOM.
a. Do you know when he got to the US? Where he lived?
b.Do you know if he was naturalized? Is so , have you reveiwed the sevaral nat papers? A complete set includes .parents, placeof birth, etc.
c.What US records have you found him in/ cemetary records,obit/
d.A Patrick Caine(E) married and Ellinor Clarke Feb 1737 Michael-- what do you know about her background/
e. I can find no Alice Caine born to an ADAM CAIN(E). What happened to Patrick's sister ALICE?

I must inject here, we never stated ALICE OFF ADAM, ALICE WAS OFF PATRICK SENIOR!!!
Now to continue your e-mail.

As you know it is important to verify the information at each genaration before going back.

It is tempting to "jump the Pond" but one has to be secure with the information before doing so. REMEMBER "JUMP THE POND"

It is pointless to study IOM records until the above is verified.

When you do need to look at IOM records, I think it would be easier for you to reuse the parish records at an LDS Famliy History Center. I don't know where you live, Ibut I would Imagine there is a Family Hx Center somehwere in your vicinty. You can rent microflilms from the main Family Hx Library in Salt Lake City for a few dollars. You can make copies of any of the pages that have relevatn information for you,
This would be much less expensive for you and would give you more direction when yo go on your trip to IOM in the fall.

I have followed the discussions on the Manx Board and MUST AGREE WITH FRANCES COAKLEY,
Clearly and Adam Cain(e) md Ellinor SToen(Stephen) 4 Aug 1696 Micahal.
This Adam seems to have died 3 Nov 1733 Michael and left a will-- a summary on Manx Note Book

Adam d3 Nov 1733 {buired Mic 17331104]; dau elinor, joney, mary ; son PATRICK, SISTER CATHERINE CAINE; WM KELLY h/o ELLINOR[ m mic 1330112;
WIFE ALIVE; THOMA BAIN BALLIE? = THOMA KEY TAILOR

NOTE there is no dau Alice, nor does it indicate that Patt is off island.
WOULD BE NICE TO SEE THE FULL ESTATE PAPERS FILM #0106215 using the LDS FILN#

I can find no marriage of an ADAM CAINE ANN an ANN CORLETT.

I do know that somethingis wrong in SAGA. PROBABLY THE BEST WAY TO SOLVE IT WOULD BE TO CLARIFY YOUR LINEAGE. PERHAPS SOMEONE ALONG THE WAY MADE SOME ASSUMPTIONS OR GUESSES THAT MAY HAVE BEEN INCORRECT.

DJDOUGLASS.

As you see I keep all e-mails, post etc. There was no daughter number one of ALICE OFF ADAM CAINE, you put here, it was PATRICK SENIOR, and PATRICK JR, AND ALICE HIS SISTER WHO CAME TO AMERICA,

Ms. Coakley even with the two ADAMS HAVE THEM MARRIED IN E-MAILS TO ME AND IN THE MANX NOTEBOOK TO SO MANY WOMEN SHE CANNOT KEEP UP. MARRIAGE WERE NOT RECORDED BEFORE 1685, EVEN SO WE KNOW WHO OUR ADAM IS AND HE MARRIED ANNE CORLETT. WE DID OUR HOMEWORK YEARS AGO ON THAT SIDE OF THE POND AND THIS SIDE OF THE POND.

You must know you called it a SAGA, ASSUMPTION, I sent you and Frances, and the board and we gave. We have our tree, and there is something to having an OXFORD SCHOLAR, state what she did in her e-mail about, just demolished two lines, she has demolished nothing, she has added to.

I have been doing genealogy since I WAS 16 years old, and I am a senior citizen now, I did not need your interrogation, we had all THATand we gave all when PATRICK SENIOR CAME TO AMERICA, and all his line and I sent all that to you and yet you too called it a SAGA, ASSUMPTION.

Now the proverb; A wise old owl said to another wise old owl, what way do go by your flight at night, by the way of the moon, the other wise old owl stated, I shall too follow that flight, and we shall wind up at the same site.

Kindly yours,

Mrs. Rosa
