Mary M,
Just a bit more detail on T.H. which was picked up a few years ago when listing manx CORLETTs
KIRBY, Lance Corporal, THOMAS HENRY, G/22952, 10th Bn.,The Queen's (Royal West Surrey Regiment). Died of wounds 23 September 1917. Age 36. Husband of Emily Kirby, of 3, Hope Terrace, Douglas, Isle of Man.
Etaples Military Cemetery, Pas de Calais, France. Grave Ref. XXVI. N. 11A.
He was entered as aged 28 and with his wife and new baby in Douglas in 1911.
There are still some Kirby's around you in Douglas!
Like you I found him the only manx Kirby listed by the CWGC, however I believe there are many manx not listed
eg. My uncle was born in Douglas early 1890s, signed up in Liverpool for the Territorials as a young single man in 1913.
He progressed into full service for the complete Great War until he died in action late September 1918.
He is buried in North East France ( I have the details) with an inscription on his mothers grave in Liverpool.
He also has not been recognised.
Peter.

PS. The upkeep of the war Memorials on the Island has been discussed a few times recently.
Including at the recent November event at Onchan/Douglas when the Governor was present.
The remembrance records on the Island, as you know, have not been updated for some considerable time.
I know a few individuals have strived to collect information over the years without a cohesive set up.
Whatever happened to the Government body set up under Adrian Earnshaw in 2009?
What about the book intended in 2007 by Dean Johnson of Douglas?
