G R Kirby WW1

G R KIRBY is listed on St Andrew's Church Douglas WW1 war memorial. Previously a Presbyterian Church of England but obviously with very strong Scottish connections.[ Now URC ]

This year as part of the Remembrance Sunday service the congregation was made aware of the details of every man's service ,place of death & burial------all except G R Kirby's.He is not

listed on the Manx Roll of Honour & so I suspect had left the island prior to WW1 but the congregation must have contained persons who knew for sure he was dead-----perhaps from war wounds rather

than in action. Can find no CWGC / Medal roll etc. Note well there was a despatch rider of similar name but he can be found AFTER the Great War. Any suggestions please , I've been trying

for a long while but hope someone can help for our BOOK of Honour & for the 2012 service.
