Re: Tracing a Blore ancestor
In Response To: Tracing a Blore ancestor ()

Hi Eleanor

I had a look at your tree on Ancestry and have found a few pieces of information to help fill in the blanks.

William and Eliza's marriage, copied from the IGI:

This is the baptism of the niece, Eliza Blore Ford (wrongly indexed as Fred), who was staying with Wm and Eliza in 1861, and also in 1871 (Forde):

(presumably, Charlotte was a sister of William Blore b 1821)

A correction to your 1841 census entry (ie not the one in Eccles):

1841
Lancashire, Liverpool, Islington 8/16
Clifford St, Dale Place ?

Wm Blore (indexed as BLOSE) 45 tin plate worker Y
Elizabeth 45 Y
William 20 cigar maker Y
Robert 15 MS Y

Eliza Blore Ford's marriage entry (scan from parish register) is in "Liverpool, Lancashire, England, Marriages and Banns, 1813-1921" --- she married George Oldershaw, a chemist's assistant, 25th Jan 1880 at St Paul's Church, LP. Her father was Henry Ford, wood turner.

Another parish record scan which may be relevant is the baptism at St Nicholas, Liverpool in Sept 1798 of a William Bloor to a Joseph Bloor of Dale St, mariner, and Elizabeth Sergant, who were married in Staffordshire.

But then I've noticed that you've got the 1792 baptism for William, to Joseph Blore, coachman of Dale St, and Ellen, which might be more likely, given that William stated his age as 45 in 1841.

The marriage you give for the parents of Willian Blore b 1821, ie 27 May 1816 in Derby (William Blore to Elizabeth Topliss) seems unlikely, given that in 1841, both Wm and Elizabeth gave their place of birth as Lancashire. I'd be looking for a marriage to a different Elizabeth in Liverpool circa 1815.

This looks like the baptism of the Robert who was age 15 in 1841 above:

In the database for Liverpool baptisms 1813 to 1906, there's an entry for Anne, dau of William and Elizabeth Bloor, tin plate worker, 24th Aug 1817.

Hope this helps.
