Re: Corkills from Maughold
In Response To: Re: Corkills from Maughold ()

This is getting more complex than the lord of the rings trilogy . I spoke to Joan today she got here information from Clive Callow in a email ( looks like a old print out from the LDS church records it reads
Ellinor Callow christened 10 OCt 1813 Lonan Isle of Man
Ellinor married Thomas Corkil 21 july 1810 Lonan Isle of Man
They had the following Children
1 - William christened 12 May 1816 Jalloo
2- Thomas christened 10 Oct 1813 Lonan
William Corkill married Jane Stowell 26 May 1837
They had the following children
John 12 Oct 1838 Maughold
Robert 4 Jan 1846 maughold
Hannah 25 June 1843 Maughold
Anne Jane 15 Oct 1848 Maughold
Thomas Arthur 7 Aug 1837

Exactly the same family and dates , as in the Creetch/North history Williams Father is listed as Patrick . I am biased toward the Creetch/North history as correct as this would have been based on Birth certificates etc . I am attempting to trace this Clive Callow to check so far I havent had any luck .Clive Callow information has William baptised on 12 May 1816 , where the Creetch /North has his Baptism on 28 Feb 1816 . I think Clive may have just been matching Dates !!!! But posibly we may need to See why Brian Lawson picked this William for a Husband forJane Stowell .

Johns Death certificate poses more delemas as it lists his father as Fredrick John , this is wrong and no one can prove it otherwise , Johns son was called Fredrick William he was born 1869 Waimate Canterbury . On Johns and Sarah's marriage cert it was witnessed by Emily Powell and a James ---------------- ( sorry cant decipher handwritting )
