Manx Genealogy

Re: Manx immig VT Wm Caines

Thanks for your help again, Averill.

I should have added, to my litany of why William Caine is so confusing to me, is that there were a multitude of William Cain/Caines in Cuyahoga County by 1850:

Two of them were married to Margarets. (And I can’t find any definitive connection which will tell me their surnames – Your identification of Margaret Duggan looks pretty good, but, as I said, there are still some inconsistencues that worry me.) To continue with the William Caines,

there was one William married to Christian Caine,

one married to Eleanor Caine,

one married to Jane Caley.

Also a William married to Judith Corlett, (That William died before the 1850 census).

That said, I am pretty sure that the William and Margaret buried in Woodland are from the following family:

William H. Caine family of Warrensville:

William H. Caine (William Caine - ) was born about 1800, and died in Warrensville December 7, 1863, age 63. He married Margaret _____. She was born about 1808-20, and died of cholera, in Warrensville, August 20, 1862, age 54. (Woodland Cemetery Interments, Section 30, Lot 150)

Assuming their daughters Charlotte, Matilda, and Mary immigrated with her parents, William and Margaret Caine came to Warrensville in 1840. (Doesn't necessarily mean they immigrated in 1840)
