Malew marriage Kelly/Mylrea 1844

Thank you, Donna. That nicely ties up the children of John Kelly, painter, to the children of his 2 wives, Ann nee Surname-unknown b1820, and Jane nee Ritson.

Finding a surname for Ann is proving tricky. The only marriage of a John Kelly to an Ann in the IGI in the right time frame is to Ann Mylrea in Malew in November 1844. If this is the right Ann, than the wedding was only weeks before the birth of the first child, Isabella Kelly, bap 31st Dec 1844 (buried Jan 28th 1845).

The IGI has an Ann Mylrea baptism in 1815, Ballaugh, to John Mylrea and Eleanor Corlett. John Mylrea wrote his will in 1843 and mentioned a daughter, Ann, amongst his other children. By 1856, when Eleanor wrote her will, all the other children were mentioned, but not Ann, suggesting that she'd died in the interim. However, there was no mention of bequests to Kelly grandchildren when there were specific bequests to other grandchildren. So this may not be the right Ann to have been the wife of John Kelly.

Perhaps someone would look in the marriage register for Malew for John Kelly to Ann Mylrea 26 Nov 1844.
