Re: Mary Hogg
In Response To: Re: Mary Hogg ()

Hello Sue and Donna, Thank you both for taking such an interest. To be honest I am now totally confused, this a.m. I received info. that the parents of James Hogg b. 1823 (not sure where, but think IOM) were Alexander Hogg b. abt. 1774 and Catherine Plasser b. abt. 1796. Alexander d. 1837 int. Braddan 14.02.1837. They had three children: James b.1823 d. 1847 m. Jane Kelly Braddan 26.02.1843 per Braddan Parish Reg.

Alexander b. 1829 and John b. 1833.

IOM Census 1841 shows Catherine Plasser/Hogg and son Alexander in Home of Industry.

I think I have found John in 1841 in Maughold (unable to read exact place) together with a number of other children, they all appear to be in the care of a Jane Corlett and William Corlett Jnr.

Cannot decide if I have found James in 1841 or not, as I say confused.

I am pretty sure I have found James born 1844, on the UK 1861Census, he is in Liverpool living with a John Thomas Kelly age 30 (& family) b. Lezayre, occupation Tailor as was the John Thomas with whose family he lived in 1851 and whom I think must be a brother of Jane.

Do hope thia makes sense.

Lillian
