Based on the research done so far as posted at the links I gave and then with subsequent lookups done by JC the Clegg line looks decidedly English/Yorkshire to me.... having already got back to the 1700s in Yorks ...but who knows.....

If it means this much to you and with your name being Clegg, why don't YOU take up researching Nick Clegg's line yourself from the material JC has provided above and keep going from there? With much/some of the work already being done, perhaps now it's up to you!
