Re: John SKILLICORN & Margaret KELLY, Lonan

Hi Lois,

No, I never found any connections for Margaret Kelly, but I looked at only a few of the dozens of Kelly wills. As you know there were numerous baptisms missing from the register, and even when there was one which looked possible (John son of John 1744) there was no way of knowing for certain whether it was correct, with no mothers' names being given.

Frances, there were actually several John Skillicorns who show up in wills. I never found a bapt for Jane either, and I guess she could be the "child" of John of Laxey, but who would know? Most of the b.c. dates come from MIs, and the family members come from wills and deeds. The Braddan marriage could be right IF she was Margaret, not Mary. Was John recorded as a widower? Lois found a marriage contract between (assumed this) John Skillicorn & Jane Kewley who died within the year.
