Re: Corlett Marriage lookup
In Response To: Re: Corlett Marriage lookup ()

Hello,
My family appeared on the Isle of Man in the 1780s, I believe. A lady called Mona- no accident there- Harrison had researched her family history back to the Manx name, Kinrie- anglicised to Harrison. Her family had first met with a mariner called Michael Healiss, who she supposed might come from Northern Ireland.
I believe he appeared from Cumbria, where versions of my name exist relatively widely. Beatrix Potter, the novelist, married a Heelis (sp?) in Westmorland.
Mona's Healiss' migrated to Liverpool, and returned to Douglas later. Mona is more of a Healiss than I am, having Healiss' on both sides of her family. She hewrself lived in Northampton in the 1980s.
If this is at all helpful, please contact and I will be as accurate as possible.
Regards,
Clive Healiss.
