Hi Ken, Your right Bernard is Marie's brother too , it was a large family and when both parents died at a young age the children went to various family members and some into care.
My grandfather had wanted to take marie but some of her mother's family took her. However by chance he found out that they put her into care and he managed to claim her and take her to the Isle of Man . She was brought up with my mum and family and they looked upon her as their sister rather than their cousin. From time to time the older brothers would come across to stay at my grandmother's guest house too. A lot of them died very young and only the few remained into older adulthood.
