Re: Corkill Family
In Response To: Re: Corkill Family ()

Hi Sue,

Thank you for responding - I have my Grandmothers birth certificate (Margaret Corkill) she was born 12.04.1898 at a place called "Maryalias" which, from my searching, does not exist - my guess is that it was the name of the property that he owned (he was a farmer). They were also married at "Maryalias" 28.10.1896. Her maiden name was Mary Jane "Chile" Bennett. The "Chile" due to her being born onboard the Chile en-route to NZ.

He was aged 39 at the time of the birth and I will ask for his death certificate which will show any other children.

Corkill may be common in the IOM but in NZ they are fairly rare birds! I have searched 100's of shipping lists to date but have not found a single Corkill (male or Female) arrival.

Thanks for the advice
Best Regards,
John
