The Peel City Guardian of 22 June , 1895, reported the forming of this Liverpool society as follows:- 'At the Quarterly meeting of the Ellan Vannin Society of Liverpool Manxmen, held on Tuesday last, it was decided to form a benevolent society in connection with the Liverpool Manx Association. A committee was formed, and a code of rules was drawn up. The membership was fixed at one shilling per quarter, and honorary members will be admitted on payment of half -a- guinea and upwards. Natives of the isle of Man, their descendants, and any person interested in Manx affairs, are eligible for membership. It is proposed to call a town meeting of Manxmen in Liverpool, to get the matter properly ventilated. The suggestion for the formation of such a society was first thrown out by Mr. J. Mylchreest at the annual meeting last January.
