YOUNG MEN'S CHRISTIAN ASSOCIATION.
A preliminary meeting of the members of the above newly-formed association was held on Wednesday evening, at the school-room, in Back Strand-street, under the presidency of the Rev H. Sutton, B.A., for the purpose of passing rules, and transacting other business. There were about 50 members present, and it was decided that they should meet every Wednesday evening in St Barnabas' schoolroom, which was thought the most suitable place. Five members gave in their names to supply essays. Biblical lectures to be delivered, essays read fortnightly, and any member may reply, but in so doing must not exceed ten minutes. Strangers will not be excluded, but the members introducing them will be responsible for their conduct.
Messrs Cain and Swinnerton were unanimously elected, the former as treasurer, aud the latter as secretary.
The following gentlemen were appointed as a committee:— Messrs. Tibbits, Isdale, Kaye, Green, Kissack and Broadbent
