Dedication date 9^th May (O/S) - 20^th May (N/S) - a fair at Santan is recorded on 21^st May 1755
Of St Sanctan, Sanctain or Santain little appears to be known. Kneen quotes Calander of Aengus wherein is mentioned Escop santan (or sanctain) sochla 'famous Bishop Sanctan, bishop of the unidentified 'church of the two forts'.
As in Ireland the name easily became confused with St Ann(e) once memory of this obscure Saint had disappeared.
