PROTECTION FOR OLAVE.—A.D. 1237.

FOR OLAVE, KING OF MANN.

OLAVE King of Mann, has letters patent of protection, to proceed to the parts of Norway, of the license of our lord the King, to endure until he shall have returned from the parts aforesaid. Witness the King, at Keneton, the 8th day of April.

And it is commanded to the Justice of Ireland, by closed letters, that he should maintain and defend him, as is contained in the shape of letters patent, aforesaid, directed to him, and to all the bailiffs and faithful servants of the King. Witness as above.

OLAVUS Rex Manniæ habet litteras patentes de protectione, qui profectus est ad partes Norwegiæ de licenti&à domini Regis, duraturas quamdiu de partibus prædictis rediemit.

Teste Rege, apud Keneton, viii die Aprilis.

Et mandatum est justiciario Hiberniæ per litteras clausas, quod ipsum ita manuteneat et defendat, sicut in formâ litterarum prædictarum patentium, ei et omnibus ballivis, et fidelibus Regis directamum continetur. Teste ut supma.
