My Lord

I had the honor of your Graces Letter of the 30th Ult and the packet containing the two Tythe Deeds which were for some time missing came also safe. As Mr Heywood desired some respite I was obliged to take his Bond for the Payment of his Tythe money & Interest.

According to your Graces Directions Mr Winchleys Bill is discharged, and I do agree with your Grace that this Affair has been a very great Expence, but hope that these new Laws, and some Regulations that are now Modelling for the Courts of Justice & the Attorneys will be the Means of preventing Expences of this kind for the future; And I do assure your Grace they have not been Efected without much Labour & Pains.

As it was your Graces Pleasure to raise a Sum about Whitsuntide I have raised the Utmost Effects to be used to Levy all that could be collected here, your Grace hath herewith remitted by Charles Lace £1200 British.

[] Petition, which your Grace transmitted I laid before the Council [..] Ignorant & Litigious; Last Sheading Courts has brought an Action against the same person who complains of for £2000 damages done to his Cabbage Garden; which circumstances will be sufficient to give your Grace a proper Due of the Man.

I am etc
