To the Right Honble the Lords Commrs of his Majesty's Treasury Memorial of the Commissioners for managing and causing to be levied and collected his Majesty's Customs

Having received an Account of the great Smugling Trades carried on from the Isle of Man and that large quantities of Brandy, Tea, East India, & other High Duty Goods are run from thence into Great Britain and Ireland, We think it our Duty, as the Isle of Man grows more & more a receptacle for customable & prohibited Goods, which are afterwards run into the sevl ports of Great Britain and Ireland, to lay this matter before your Lordships, together with a copy of the Letter We have received, for your Information - And We have directed all the Officers at the ports nearest to the Isle of Man to be very vigilant in their several Stations and to use their utmost endeavours to prevent the Frauds intended to the prejudice of the Revenue.
