In the name of the ever blessed Trinity Amen

I John Redfern of Castletown being now weak in body, but of perfect mind and memory, and calling to mind the uncertainty of this transitory life do make this my last will and testament in manner following revoking all other former will or wills of what nature soever

Inps I commit my sol to the almighty god who gave it and my body to be decently inter'd at the discretion of my exectrix hereafter named, trusting in the resurrection of our Blessed Saviour.

Item I leave and bequeath unto my daughter Elizabeth Tellet one pound four shillings and six-pence

Item I leave and bequeath unto my son Thomas one pound four shillings and six-pence

Item I leave unto my son John one pound four shillings and six-pence

Item I leave and bequeath unto my daughter Lenoria Quayle one pound four shillings and six-pence

Item I leave and bequeath unto my daughter Jane one pound four shillings and six-pence

Item I leave and bequeath unto my daughter Margaritt Camball one pound four shillings and six-pence

Item I leave unto my son George in order to put him to a trade the sum of ten pounds

Item I leave and bequeath unto my son Joshua for the like purpose the sum of ten pounds

Lastly I do nominate constitute and appoint my loving wife Martha Redfern als Woods whole and sole executrix and residuary legatee of all the rest of my effects moveable and immoveable of what kind or denomination whatsoever, in testimony whereof I have this day subwrit my name this 30th of December 1761

At a court of correction holden in Castletown Feb 11th 1762 The execut is sworn in court in form of law & has given pledges for payment of debts & legacies namely Richd Quirk of Castletown & Mr Thos Fargher of Malew

18th Jun 1762 Mr Thos Taubman enters a claim agt the Exr of John Redfern for £3-0-0 Brit & craves the law.

By virtue of the Revd Vicar Genll Radcliffe's authority I have charged Elizabeth Tellet Thomas Redfern Jane Redfern Margtt Cambel, and George Redfern children of the late John Redfern deceased of Castletown and likewise by the same authority I have charged Mr Thos Redfern, Thos Taylor & Mr Thos Fargher, all to appear personally at a consistory court to be held at Balnehowin on Tuesday the 19th of this instant by ten of the clock in the forenoon to answer the suit of Mrs Martha Redfern of Sd town this I aver this 19th of Jan: 1762

At Castletown June 9th 1763

Jane Quirk daughter of Mr Richard Quirk and Leonora Quirk als Redfern came this day and acknowledged that she was fully satisfied and paid the sum of two hundred pounds which was bequeathed unto her by the last will of her mother Leonora Quirk at and from the hands of her father Mr Richard Quirk and does hereby acquit exonerate and discharge her said father and his exors for ever for the same
