Hi - I think you might have more luck with that marriage cert for Maud N Cox in Islington where (from memory) her mother was living in 1901. If the correct Maud her father's details on that might give you some leads. If "deceased" it will cut down on the number of possible deaths for him.

Have you tried wills in England from 1901 onwards? You would probably get more information from this source than from anywhere else, and the indexes usually give enough identifying detail to be sure you have the right person. There are a number of places where you can see the post-1858 indexes, if you are in England. See: www.genuki.org.uk/big/eng/Probate.html
If you can reach anywhere which has the printed volumes you will find that they can be checked very quickly, and it is easy to get through at least 20 years of "C" in a session.
You could try them for Thomas as well.
