Sorry Sue, I did not respond to all of your post.
Thomas, as with his mother and siblings, was taken to England both from Castle Rushen and from Cork (ther were 18 other convict cholera victims who did not survive).
I am interested in your view that the family came from Cork. Sarah's records say County Down which is only a day's sailing from the IoM but like all convict records they rely largely on information given by the prisoners themselves. Can you expand on the "Cork" theory please?
By the way the present owners have sent photographs of the original farm house that Thomas and his mother robbed, it was demolished in 1988 and a new farm house has been built on the property.
