Re: mehew family
In Response To: Re: mehew family ()

Hi Emily,
Have a few details on IOM Mehew's but you may already have details.
William & Elizabeth had daughter Mary who died in Dec 1860 and is buried at Bradden. She left a Will which may hold clues to the families origins, however I have as yet been unable to find out how you can obtain a copy of IOM Wills other than in person... perhaps someone else could help here. Another daughter Sarah married Richard Warburton and she too died IOM in 1903. Granddaughter of this couple Sarah Ann or Annie married Charles Rogerson on IOM and also died there in 1916 leaving a Will. Then there is the strange birth of Louisa Mehew Warburton on 1st Aug 1864 who could be the daughter of William Mehew & Isabella Warburton or Richard & Sarah above. Two people have contacted me and each gave different parents, however she is buried at Braddan Plot 3152 in 1886 age 22 years, but doesn't appear in any census records! It would be helpful to see the original registers for baptisms and deaths but again it appears that these are only available in person on the IOM.
It appears from my research that the IOM family and the Suffolk family are not the same.

Hope this doesn't give more questions than answers...
Regards
Barbara
