Re: Catherine Christian Kewley.

Hi Liz, nice to hear from you again. Hope this current weather spell is not too bad for you on the Island.
Thanks for taking an intest in my family spreading to another country, or two.
I know that my grandma's sister married HENRY HARRIS.
It looks like him in 1861 aged 12, a scholar , living at 4 Duke Lane, Conchan, with a Mrs. Harris who could be his mother. She is a boarder from Ireland, living as a Hawker.
!n 1871, now 22, is a painter, lodging at31 Hope Street, Douglas- also lodging there is Elizabeth KEWLEY, aged 26, a dressmaker.
I guess this makes Henry born about 1849, in Ireland but we don't know where.
To futher complicate things I have recently received my Dad's medals from WW1.
Included with them was an Army Long Service and Good Conduct Medal for 1256 E. HARRIS, 41st Regement. This looks to be from the 1830's, and you have to do 21 years service to qualify. The complication is that the 41st. Regiment are a Welsh unit!
Any advice would be most welcome to point me to any links in a country I did not think I would need to explore.
Thanks for the interest Liz.
Colin.
