you obviously havn't checked enough - there are quite a number with similar large age gaps - unmarried women had no easy employment then thus an older widower (especially if reasonably well off) would be more attractive than a lifetime of penury - sometimes you find these younger wives have or had, an illegitimate child which would have reduced their marriage prospects. Widowers especially with younger children need a woman in the house (+ also if they ran a farm)
