Re: Robert Clague b circa 1786 MI look up, please

I wonder whether Robert was on a visit to the IOM when he died, or whether he died in Liverpool and his body was taken over to the island by his family for burial.

I've looked at the English death index for 3rd quarter of 1849 using various spellings of Clague, but can't find an entry. If Robert did die in Liverpool, would it have been mandatory for the death to have been registered there, regardless of where the burial was going to take place ? So does the lack of a death entry show that he died in the IOM ?

There's no IOM will for him ( the 1849 Santon will in Brian's index for Robert Clague is for a Robert who was married to (1) Jane Quark and (2) Catherine Hewson.)

If "our" Robert made a will in Liverpool, how do I find it ?

If he was the one who married Isabella Cregeen b 1792, could this be her burial ?

CLAGUE, Isabella 80 Arb 19 Jul 1872

There again, this burial could be for an Isabella married to a William who were in the 1871 census.
