Re: Ideas for the FHS
In Response To: Re: Ideas for the FHS ()

Not knowing the set up and ideas for the future leaves me in a vulnerable position to suggest things or inform people as to what is happening in the FHS.
Every time I log on to here, I hear of new areas that I know little about and your suggestions are good as I can ask these questions to other members of the committee. Unfortunately, there's not many committee members who are conversant with the Internet and therefore computers and therefore speed and ease of information is not as quick as I'd like it to be.
My own personal opinion (which often gets me in to trouble) is that there should be a FHS members area for certain information, as I know that there's people who've spent a lot of time and effort in producing various reports and would be concerned with people copying and pasting their information without making the effort to research themselves.
I understand that New Zealand Genealogy society sell CD's that are unable to be copied and also copyrighted and I think this has to be explored by the FHS.
However, there are many other things to do as people have mentioned earlier and I'll pass everything on, to see if things can be speeded up somehow.
Please remember that I'm in the same boat as everyone else and don't have this information and don't have anything to do with the make up of the FHS site, apart from giving you updates on the Latest News. I do not have any say in the way the Forum operates or what's put onto the web site, although I sneaked a few pictures into the Gallery and haven't had my ears roasted yet, so maybe that area's ok for me.
I would like to see links going off to various sites, like the Manx Notebook, Manx Heritage, Liz's walking site etc etc, and definitly more information regards Wills and MI's which again was stated earlier on this site.
I'm offering my time and even money to get things done for people researching, but I'm a little restricted in what I can and can't do, but I am a vocal person and often voice my own opinions.
So the more suggestions the better Averil and I think that there's many people here who'd love to see and hear about your work and therefore I'll try my best to get your work and other works 'past and present' on to the site as quickly as possible.
