Ah I see - I think Beatrice Kneen used her own knowledge of the parish + an unpublished collection of notes put together by P M C Kermode's father + a subsequent vicar that were I think being put into a publishable form (I have a carbon copy - part is online - see under superstitions off Ballaugh page) - I don't know as yet where her info came from - suspect 3M is in French Francs and is the French Chancery (ie held up in French courts) - as she mentions a Kneen relation it may well be a family tale.

There may well be no direct connection - it could be mediated via Whitehaven or Liverpool - does the actual parish register in Cornwall not give any indication of where he was ordinarily resident ?
