My great great grandfather was John Gawne his father was Thomas Gawne of Laurel Bank.
John Gawne lived in Ballarat. He became a butcher and was married to Elizabeth Clarke. They had two sons Frederick Gawne and Thomas Gawne. John Gawne died 1n 1900 and is buried in the old Ballarat Cemetery.
