Hi Frances,

I am replying to this thinking you will notice it now so far down the list. My G.G.grandfather Thomas Kneen a Baker of Douglas town married my G.G. Grand mother Christian Crow in 1824 at Kirk Braddan. I have since found out Christian Kneen died in 1871 supported by the Poor house or House of Industry , this was not disclosed in my family Bible only her death was recorded as 26th May 1871 at Drumgold Street, Douglas ..wife of Thomas Kneen a Baker of Douglas town as written.

Her burial is not recorded in all Douglas Boroughs including Kirk Braddan. So where would a burial be recorded if she was supported by the poor house / industry house ?

Also her husband my G.G. Grandfather Thomas Kneen the Baker who I think died 30 th May 1852 , because he is recorded in the 1851 Douglas Cenus but not in later census's . He is as recorded in the Kirk Braddan burial register 1849 -1981 D to L he is listed there in but there is no Mi records in the index . He did not leave a WILL ..Please can you please explain how somone can die i.e Christian and Thomas Kneen have no record, I find this unbelieveable even in the 19th century. That's why I was asking about obit's in case poor house deaths and other deaths were recorded in 1850 to 1870's .

Regards.

Brian

If you can fathom this the you are a genius.
