Thanks again. We have copies of the Will of both John and Ann Shimmin, nee Quirk (German) but Elizabeth is not mentioned in either, though her siblings are. Only other exception being a deceased brother. However, in spite of very thorough searching, we can find no trace of Elizabeth having died. Our Elizabeth/Isabella was already with child (which died in infancy) at the time of her marriage. If she is the one and same Elizabeth, we are speculating that her parents did not approve of Daniel Gilmour and she was disinherited - Gilmour was a farm labourer and the Shimmins were land owners. Perhaps Gimour worked on her father's farm, Balacross, as a labourer...
