Re: McCreanney
In Response To: Re: McCreanney ()

Hello Michele,
I wrote to Marie thinking it was you., sorry.
All of this is great thanks. I will add this to the story in the notes. Did you receive the history so far-on the other address ?
I have looked at the marriage of Margaret and John at the LDS.They were married on 29th Sept 1869 in St John the Baptist Church in Kirk German.
John McCreney ( spelling on the doc )-was a bachelor -cardriver, of full age ( I wonder if this correct from the death date 48 years in 1898 or did IOM have a lower age of consent at that time ?)--father was William -a labourer. John signed with an X.
Margaret Anne Donaldson --of full age . Father was David, a cardriver. Margaret Anne signed her name.
James Cain witness as well as the Minister Phillip CLucas.
So it seems we have the correct couple , doesn't it ? Margaret's father David was a widower by this time. Ann his wife ( nee Campbell ) was buried in Braddan on 15 Sept.1865 grave no 1707. I have both David and Ann in Douglas on 1861 C.
I wonder why Margaret and John went back to Kirk German to marry ?
More later
