Re: McCreanney

Hi Erla
Try emailing me on michele_mcgrath@hotmail.com or michele@edwin-mcgrath.com. You are obviously further back than me. Living relatives I know of - Nora McGrath daughter of Margaret, grand-daughter of Hughie (my aunt). Frances, daughter of Willie, granddaughter of Hughie, Maria, (known as Marie - a family name? My grandmother wanted me called it )daughter of Johnnie, granddaughter of Hughie. Saw my grandmother's birth certificate today - she was born at home just off Fort Street Douglas - Hughie described as Car Driver ( ie family say he drove the carrages for the gentry). Hughie moved to Mill Street Liverpool when the Foxdale mines closed. Margaret worked as a bus conductress in WW1 and met my grandfather, Louis McGrath, on the buses. My grandmother was know as Marget-Ann although her real name was Margaret Annie. I can find no record of Hughie's and Annie's marriage in the IOM catholic churches although their children were baptised in St Marys. Hubert (this is the spelling on Margaret's birth certificate) was known as Queeie or Hughie as was his last son Hubert Aloyitus (blame my grandmother for that one! and I can't spell it!!) Do you want the list of Hugie's descendants? Willie was alive in 1953 and lived in Liverpool, Johnnie and his wife had died early and most of their family were across. Ivy died young, no issue. Hughie Jr died in India from appendicitis (my aunt says only the worst doctors went into the army there and he was as good as murdered). Will write again - email playing up! Regards, Michele
