Re: Archibald Genealogy
In Response To: Archibald Genealogy ()

Searched my database for Archibald/archibold s

In 1881 census only one Archibald on Island - Jane A. 84 yr old Widowed mother-in-law at William & Jane Killip 3 Brisbane St Douglas (Jane was born Marown).
In 1841 census some 5 Archibald families - Castletown, Douglas, Peel, Marown + others as presumeably servants etc; by 1851 some 8 families - thus it looks as if the name died out on the Island

In 1864 Peel valuation list - 7 Market St Peel owned by Ann Archibald. (presume widow of William A. - tailor in 1851 C William was born Peel)
In 1863 Douglas under shopkeepers - Archibald Mary, Bigwell street (a poor part of town)
In 1858 manorial Roll for Peel (German - cottages #9 in list) William Archibald in noted - however no Archibald in earlier lists
In 1814 Census of Peel a Geo. Archibald was noted with in a household 2 adult males, 2 boys, 1 adult female 2 girls.
