Archibald Genealogy
In Response To: Re: Archibald Genealogy ()

Martin - I can't recall if I responded to your posting or not? It appears that I did not. In any case, the information you have for the Archibald who emigrated to the United States under the pretense of being a LDS is my great grandfather. I suspect (as a servant) he did not have money to fund the ship voyage, so he got passage any way he could for his wife and two sons. Upon arrival in New Orleans, they then went up the Mississippi to St. Louis, where most headed to Utah, but my great grandfather headed to Missouri and became a farmer. He and 'Maggie' Quirk had seven more children. My grandfather, Thomas, became quite successful and wealthy (comparatively). Unfortunately, all that wealth went to other members of my family. In August 2006 my wife and I are headed to the Isle of Man. It appears my family tree on the island may have 'died-out', however, there are three Archibald's listed in the Isle of Man phone book, so I will contact them.
