Re: Ann Kennaght/Kennaugh and William Cottier

Jean,

Thank you so much for taking the time to help by looking up and posting the will info for John Fayle, Robert Fayle, both of which mention a Charlotte Kennaugh, wife of William Kennaugh, and for the 1832 will summary for Mary Fayle that lists a daughter, Charlotte Kenaght, and a granddaughter, Ann Kenaght.

Those three Fayle wills convince me that I have the right parents for the Ann Kenaght that married William Cottier.

In looking at Robert Fayle's will on Family Search, it mentioned a couple of children of Charlotte Fayle Kennaugh, wife of William Kennaugh, but there didn't seem to be a mention of his niece, Ann Kennaugh Cottier, wife of William Cottier. I wonder if the three day courtship had anything to do with that. Seems that romance moved quickly back then in the Isle of Man.

I've, also, found the following 18 Mar 1810 Kirk German,, Isle of Man christening record for Ann Kennagh, daughter of William, Kennagh and Charlotte Fayle.(transcriber spelled the surname as "Fayll' instead of Fayle)
************************
Name:Ann Kennagh

Father's Name:William Kennagh
Mother's Name:Charlotte Fayll

I don't have a subscription to Find My Past, so I couldn't check to see where they were living in 1841. I did find a 1851 West Derby, Lancashire, England census which I believe may be the William and Ann Kenaght Cottier family who were living off island with their children, Jane, Ann, and a son, William Cottier.

Thank you again! Your kindness in giving up your time to help is much appreciated. You've added another piece to my family tree puzzle.
