Notes on the back of this photograph state:
"Grandparent's of Mrs Alfred Sayle of Pinpound cottage, Bride". The people pictured lived at South Cape, Laxey. She was a midwife and he was "a great man in Minorca and a pillar of the Sunday school".

It seems likely that “Edward Craine 2 visitor” in 1851 was the same child as “Edward Boyce 12 son” in 1861. Perhaps Margaret Boyce delivered him and offered to wet-nurse him and informally adopt him. His birth mother presumably alleged that her baby’s father was Dr Robert Edward Craine.
