I forgot to attach the image of the marriage of James Kelly and Mary Cain showing that James’s father was Thomas Kelly, a miner, and that Mary’s father was John Cain, a tailor.

If Catherine Faragher was born in 1797, she was 42 when James was born. Looking at all the Thomas Kelly entries for the 1841 IOM census would be a daunting task (the census index has about 50 possibles) but he might not have still been on the island in 1841, or he might have died by then.
