My ancestor, William Howland, was born in Andreas sometime around 1813. He married Mary Cowle of Bride on 28 November 1835 in Bride and they went on to have a number of children.

Despite extensive searching and lots of work on the Howlands of Andreas and Bride, I have been unable to discover William's parentage. He may be the son of John Howland and Joney Cormoad and therefore the brother of the John Howland who married Jane Christian in Andreas in 1837 (John was a witness at William's marriage) but I can't find a baptism and John Howland senior (died 1849 Andreas) doesn't seem to have left a will.
