Manx Genealogy

Corkill of Ballajora, Maughold.

I have been researching my Corkill Ancestors in the 1600s, mainly with extracts taken from the, A Manx Note Book – CD- Version 14 Jan 2014 which is invaluable for research into Land Records in the Isle of Man.

And –
The Isle of Man Family History Society – Burials CD.

And –
The Book – A History of Kirk Maughold by Constance Radcliffe – which has the Families living and farming in Kirk Maughold, Isle of Man.

I am wondering if Constance Radcliffe has made a small mistake in the descendancy of the Corkill family I descend from.
To have written such a large Book, with so much information on the farming families of Maughold, Isle of Man.

maybe, a wee mistake was made ???

My family in question is –
William CORKILL married, Ellen BELL on the 1 December 1659 at Maughold, Isle of Man.

The Isle of Man Family History Society – Burials CD has, Corkill, Will ballajorey 28 January 1676.

Extracts - from A Manx Note Book CD - Ballajora 'Farm of the stranger or strangers.' Particle.

1610 - To Willm Corkill A Tenement conteyning xx (20) acres The Rent by the yeare and the fyne paieable at hallowtide as before.
1665 – Libr. Assed. – Intacks – Wm. Corkill - Jo. Corkill - Don. Corkill.
1704 - Composition Book extract from A Manx Note Book CD.
Particles
fo 16 - 63 Wm Corkill for the other 4th part of a quarter of 13s 6d double rent compd for in 1643 by Wm Corkill fine then for this and 12d cottage was 10s. One life in being so to pay now. 00 06 08.

Constance Radcliffe has written that the – Corkill of the Particles - main line was:

James Corkill, Jo. Corkill, Daniel Corkill.

Has Constance Radcliffe mistakenly written the name James Corkill ?

When the Land Records prove it to be – William Corkill ???

Any comments most welcome to try and work out this puzzle.
Descendency down, from William Corkill d. 1676 has been proven through Marriage Contracts.
