Thanks for drawing all this to my attention. It makes sense that Esther would have gone to Ramsey for any baby to be born, because her eldest sister Elizabeth (Crye) was living there. Esther Hannah had a large dowry of over £500, and there may have been a reluctance to part with this if the marriage to Tom Cannell was thought as a step down the social ladder. I can see now why T.E. Quine my great grandfather had to court Eliza Ann for six years, she probably insisted on Esther H. being out of the way before she came to Baldwin.
Is it making more sense now?
