Re: Question on John Fargher (d. 1782 Lonan)

Here’s another thought.

The full transcript of the 1765 Lonan will of John Fargher that is available on Jim Jurby’s site has attached to it (see far below) “At a Court of Correction holden in KK Marown Feb. 25, 1765 The Exec’x is sworn in Court in form of Law & undertakes the Tuition & maintenance of the children under age viz’t Marg’t & Jane of whom John & Wm. brothers by the father’s side are sworn supervisors – pledges for the widow for paym’t of Debts & Legacies are Wm. Gell & Philip Kinley both of Lonan.”

This suggests two marriages. One that produced John and William, and another that produced Margaret and Jane, who were young when John died.

The first wife could have been Margaret Fargher als Corlett whose Will mentions only John and William (1758-2 E w FARGHER Margaret CORLET [bur Lon 17580429];dated 21 aug 1757; son John (eldest),wm; bro daid corlet (dau margt); serv isable lewn; wm corlett's poor dau; husb john).

John could have then married Mary Fargher als Kinley and fathered two children between 1758 and 1765.
