the name Cannell is found from the earliest surviving Manx records ie before 1600 - eg of the 240 Cannell wills pre 1700 shows 100/240 to be found in parish of Michael with smaller numbers in adjacent Kk German + Ballaugh - after Kk Michael there are some 20% in Braddan + Onchan - they spread out from this western part of Island during later centuries.
Thus as Donna has pointed out you are dealing with many families some of whom held relatively high office in earlier centuries and several families emigrated to North America at start of mass migration period of Manx history (late 1820's) - you will need to determine which family you are researching
