Hello Gus, Thank you for your reply. I'm afraid that I don't have much further back. The parents of Frances were William Gell (Gill or Gale) depending on which record you are looking at! Ann Ellison was her mother. I think William was born about 1781, and was married before Ann, but I don't know who his first wife was. What is the book that you mentioned? Thanks, Fiona
