Here is The News. A Cronicle of The 20th Century Vol 1 1901-1950
1925 page 92.

With two days to go before Christmas the people of Castletown were saddened by a most tragic accident which occurred when a van driven by 43 year old William Cowin crashed into the harbour in a blinding snowstorm after missing the entrance to the bridge accross the harbour. He was drowned along with a four-year-old girl passenger,Renee Mylchreest, of Bank House, who was given a lift home along with her mother.Mrs Annie Mylchreest was saved from the icy waters by Cornelius Hayes, the mate of a schooner moored nearby. Mr Hayes has been given a gold watch by the townsfolks for in his bravery
in rescuring the mother of the dead child. The harbour commissioners are to provide better lighting to the entrance of the bridge
