Re: Frances Marion Christian Shimmin

Thank you for that information Joan, we knew this part of the story, but the gap I am trying to find is the marriage of Frances to an as yet unknown"Clarke", as you noted from the Ancestry War Records he gives the date and place of HIS marriage to a Frances Clarke, a widow, this is the bit I do not know.
On Saturday May16th.1908 the Peel guardian and Chronicle tells us that Philip Quayle moves from the Island to Greenock, Scotland with the last two net machines from Peel, "Adam" and "Eve" , along with them went Mr. Alfred Shimmin who had been acting foreman
Then on 2nd. January1911 in Greencock Philip marries Rachel Elder, it was their son Hugh that was noted on the records that you read,Rachel dies not long after giving birth to another child (who also dies) on April 3rd.1915.
In 1916 Philip marries Frances, who, is by then a widow, herself, but the marriage to that Clarke, is my mystery.
There is a possibility that she married in Scotland, as suggested on this site, but the Clarke is without an e at the end, but I will look at this possibility when our eldest son moves to New Zealand I hope this clarlfies my search for Frances's first wedding, but thank you for your efforts, much appreciated. Colin.
