Re: Miller Family
In Response To: Re: Miller Family ()

Thank you Carol, I appreciate you searching for the information. My grandfather seems to be a real nomad and it's strange there is no record of him completing the census. His son Alexander was born in Douglas 1st October 1890 and his wife Jane died there 30 October 1891. Considering the census was conducted in April 1891 and there were two other young children in the family I would have thought he would have resided on the island. Possibly they were visiting family members in Ireland, as you say there are no records of them being in England. What puzzles me is why the younger Alexander died on the island, raises the question did someone on the island take care of him or did he return to his mothers parents. My grandmother is looking after the two other children Henry and William in the 1901 Irish census, there is no mention of the younger Alexander. Donna responded to my original email and kindly done the burial / grave search in which she found a record for Jane Millers grave. I'm wondering if Alexander junior who died aged 18 in 1909 was buried in a paupers grave as no grave number was available. Possibly if I obtain both death certificates it will reveal some more information to unravel the mystery.

Are you the Carol I met in the Family History Office ?

Frank Millar
